Meeting Minutes: April 21, 2015
The Arkansas Corvair Club met at our regular meeting place, US Pizza on McCain Park Drive, NLR, on Tuesday, April 21. We had 13 in attendance. The meeting was called to order by president, Keith LaCrosse. The minutes from our March meeting were approved as read. Elvis King gave the financial report. We currently have $2,567.22 in our treasury.
We had the election of officers. Clyde Jones nominated the current slate of officers. Ronnie MacLeod seconded the motion and it passed.
Keith said that the Corvette club was impressed with the valve cover race track that our club had displayed at the Pentzer’s party. They asked his permission to use it for the Corvette valve covers to race at the Great Plains Roundup in September. After a discussion, the club decided against allowing .this because this is our first time to be in charge of the track, It is jointly owned by all five clubs who participate in the Great Plains Roundup yearly. We have a commitment to the other clubs to keep it in good operating condition.
Dee Jones suggested that our club visit Jim and Hazel Latture in Hot Springs on a Saturday. We decided to do this on Saturday, May 30. Dee said she will contact Jim and give us details at the May meeting.
Keith said that Jeff Barrett is departing from North Carolina to California in his ‘65 Corsa coupe on Friday, April 24, to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Coast to Coast for the Kids fundraiser. They would like to meet ACC members for dinner somewhere in the Little Rock area on Sunday, April 26. Keith will talk to Jeff and email members of the restaurant. We will take up donations from members at the May meeting and will send a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Keith said that he was notified that there will be a Lions Club fundraiser at Lake Willisten in Maumelle on Saturday, June 13. They are having a catered fish fry/chicken tenders dinner. The cost is $10 with a graduated price list for seniors and kids. They want Corvairs there to be “eye candy” for the attendees to enjoy at the event—no prizes or contests.
